Learn why our area is so ecologically incredible

From our meeting location at CPI headquarters (46 Kinsey Road, Crawfordville), we will hop in our 12-passenger van and travel out to our own Apalachicola Lowlands Preserve, making plenty of stops along the way. While the longleaf pine ecosystem will be our primary focus, we also will experience many other habitats within, such as seepage slopes, wet prairie bogs loaded with pitcherplants, ephemeral wetlands, and blackwater streams. And we will eyeball some coastal sand pine scrub. Get up close and personal with creatures and plants galore...including some of the threatened, endangered, or endemic species that call our region home. There will be plenty of opportunities for photographers!

The $75 fee includes transportation, and complementary drinks/extra water. It also includes CPI president Ryan Means, who will be your fearless, friendly, and expert guide. You should bring shoes you can get wet, insect repellant if you desire, and perhaps some sunscreen. We will frolick-walk approximately three miles at the preserve. Proceeds go towards our efforts to preserve the biodiversity of the southeastern Coastal Plain.

Contact Ryan directly if you should have any questions. 850-544-5661 or ryan@coastalplains.org
