Paddle the Magical Wakulla River
Join CPI President Ryan Means for an awesome paddling adventure between the bridges down the wondrous Wakulla River. As we paddle, we will discuss local natural history, hydrogeology, and biodiversity of this world class first magnitude spring ecosystem. We will observe fossils from off the riverbed, and learn about the prehistory of our region. Ryan is eager to share with you his extensive natural history knowledge of this lovely aquatic national treasure.
We likely will observe and paddle with manatees, handle terrific turtles, and experience endless plants and animals. Bring your swimsuit, any wetsuit pieces you may have, mask and snorkel.
All inclusive adventure. Boats, PFD, paddle, extra water, complimentary drinks, all provided. We have canoes and kayaks, and we will deploy a mixture of paddlecraft and hopefully get each person into a boat that suits them. This paddling experience is generally easy and effortless as we glide on the water moving with the current. Beginning paddlers are welcome. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, water bottle, snack, etc...whatever you need for a half day on the water.
We will meet and park cars at the lower (US 98) bridge boat launch, hop into the CPI van, and transport ourselves and paddlecraft up to the upper (Shadeville Road) bridge over the Wakulla River, where we will launch our adventure.
Cancellation Policy: If CPI has to cancel for any reason, we will provide you with a later trip for free, graciously accept your payment as donation, or of course refund your payment. If any attendees have to cancel, we will graciously accept your payment as a donation to our conservation efforts.
All ticket proceeds go towards our efforts to preserve the incredible biodiversity of the Coastal Plain.
